About the programme

Through one-to-one sessions, the mentoring programme will provide training and support for both mentees and mentors. Participants in the programme will meet over several months to build up skills such as creating a network, making career decisions, cultivating leadership styles, and building confidence.

We are looking for mid-to senior male and female academics and aquaculture industry professionals eager to make a difference, as well as women entering the sector or women in the early stages of their careers with a commitment to aquaculture who are looking to enhance their careers.

The programme is fully funded via sponsorship from Crown Estate Scotland; however, it requires a commitment from participants to actively engage with the programme.

Why be a mentor?

Becoming a mentor is for anyone in senior positions from across the industry who want to make a difference, helping us to encourage and nurture aquaculture’s next generation of female leaders. Being a mentor can be an incredibly rewarding experience, contributing to professional development and shaping the industry’s future.

Why be a mentee?

As a mentee on the WiSA programme, your potential will be matched with the skills and experience of a supportive person who is more established in the sector. Your interaction with your mentor can help build skills, confidence and capability, with all the benefits this can bring both personally and professionally.

What mentees said about the programme

The WiSA mentoring programme has had a positive impact for many women in the Scottish aquaculture sector over the years. These are just some of the positive experiences our mentees have reported back on.
